Symptoms

  • Check Engine dashboard light is ON
  • Possible increased fuel consumption

Causes

  • O2 sensor heater wiring or connectors issues
  • Faulty O2 sensor heater element

Severity - low

Does not require immediate replacement, but in a log time perspective could lead to spark plugs foul-out. Increasing fuel consumption and pollution.

Troubleshooting

  • Check and replace, if required, front oxygen sensor
  • Check and replace, if required, wiring of front oxygen sensor

inCarDoc posted this 19 March 2019 - Last edited 27 October 2020

Description

Indicates increasing time for rear oxygen sensor (Bank 1, Sensor 2: output of catalytic converter) to get operating condition/temperature after the cold start. Usually means brakes or shortcuts in- or out- sensor wiring.

Symptoms

  • Check Engine dashboard light is ON
  • Possible increased fuel consumption

Causes

  • O2 sensor heater wiring or connectors issues
  • Faulty O2 sensor heater element

Severity - low

Does not require immediate replacement, but in a log time perspective could lead to spark plugs foul-out. Increasing fuel consumption and pollution.

Troubleshooting

  • Check and replace, if required, rare oxygen sensor
  • Check and replace, if required, wiring of rare oxygen sensor

Codes description P0300 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected (P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306)
inCarDoc posted this 16 March 2019 - Last edited 25 August 2020

Description

Car's ECU detects disbalance of the engine working cycle parameters, usually variations of crankshaft revolving speed, that caused by random/multiple misfires in engine cylinders. P0300 indicates generic error with undefined cylinder. P030x (where x=1,2,3,...) points exact number of cylinder with detected misfires.

Symptoms

  • Check Engine dashboard light is ON
  • Unstable work and sound from engine: stumbles, shakes
  • Possible lack of power and car dynamic, engine shakes when accelerating
  • Could be issues with engine start

Causes

  • Faulty or worn-our spark plugs or connectors
  • Faulty coil
  • Faulty fuel injector
  • Low fuel pressure
  • Exhaust system issues
  • Low quality of the fuel

Severity - Major

Need to be fixed ASAP. With a time could lead other systems malfunctioning and increasing of repair casts.

Troubleshooting

  • Be sure using a quality fuel. If not, change fuel, clear code and wait few days driving if it re-appears.
  • Check spark plugs and coil connectors and wires, replace, if required
  • Visually inspect spark plugs, replace, if required
  • Review and correct, if required, fuel injectors, distributor cap, compression, other systems that have DTCs.

Codes description P0420 - Catalyst system efficiency below threshold (Bank 1)
inCarDoc posted this 15 March 2019 - Last edited 25 August 2020

Description

Indicates that some parameters readings of oxygen sensors are out of threshold. Could be due to the improper work of the catalytic converter, faults of oxygen sensors or other car systems. Could lead to the increasing of emission pollution and decreasing of engine efficiency.

Symptoms

  • Check Engine dashboard light is ON
  • Possible lack of power and car dynamic
  • Increased fuel consumption
  • Changed smell of exhaust gasses
  • Could be issues with cold engine start

Causes

  • Faulty catalytic converter (due to resource or low quality fuel)
  • Faulty front or rear oxygen sensor
  • Leakage in exhaust system
  • Long term car running with unbalanced parameters (misfires, spark timing, high fuel pressure, oil leakage, etc.)

Severity - moderate

Does not have immediate danger effect to the car or driver. Indicates increased pollution and could lead secondary car systems malfunctions if not fixed in a reasonable time frame.

Troubleshooting

  • Be sure using a quality fuel. If not, change fuel, clear code and wait few days driving if it re-appears.
  • Check leaks in exhaust system: manifold, pipes, mufflers. Do fixes or replacement if required.
  • Check work of the front and rear oxygen sensors with working engine. It's expected that rear sensor have steady readings, the pulse rear readings indicates faulty converter.
  • Review and correct, if required, misfires, spark timing, high fuel pressure, oil leakage, injectors, engine coolant temperature sensors, other systems that have DTCs.
  • Inspect and replace, if required, oxygen sensor(s).
  • Inspect and replace, if required, catalytic converter.

Functionality Cooling fan
inCarDoc posted this 13 March 2019

Unfortunately not.

Please note that App supports only parameters and ECU's specified with OBD-II standard, that is Engine and Emission systems (Check Engine dashboard light).

Unfortunately other car systems like do not covered with any standard. Implementation could be very different for various make-model-year. You might need the other specialized solution for exact make-model-year that declare support of all listed systems.

Thanks!
