Battery V

Hi simple and probably stupid q, is the battery V reading the battery output or input from alternator ie. is 14.7 v when running and 11.7 v when off a sign of a healthy battery

Voltage, you are talking about, just measured by adapter itself directly at OBD-II socket of the car, so that is voltage of car's electric system measured just in one point of cur's circuit...   Depending on key position, it could be battery or generator, with corrections to other loads and measuring points at circuit...   If available and supported in you car, some other exact voltage parameters also might be listed. For example "Control module voltage"

using InCarDoc Pro can I code a new battery, i.e. enter maker, serial, capacity and technology ?

Unfortunately not.

Please note that app works according to OBD-II standard specification, that covers reading of Engine and Emission related parameters. 

Battery regulation is very specific options used only by some car manufacturers, in particular case by BMW and may be some others. You might need some solution dedicated to your car model, that supports battery related options with custom protocols of your car.
