Solar cars – a new perspective

Solar cars are not up to date trend, as the first car on solar batteries (Sunmobileappeared in 1955. It was created by William Cobb designer and engineer from General Motors, and was demonstrated in the “Powerama Show”, in Chicago. In that time, it was just an idea, without practical use. But, for today, that idea comes to real, and modern “Sunmobiles” looks futuristic like in a science fiction movie. But seriouslyare solar cars can totally replace the usual cars on gas or petrol or even electric cars? What are their main benefits?

The primary and the obvious point is the ecological compatibility of such cars. The usual cars are leads to the greenhouse effect, and the level of emissions from them into the air is about 70-80% in the world. Thus, solar-powered cars have a clear advantage over cars on fuel. They dont pollute the air and save the environment.

Modern electric cars are also environmentally friendly, and it is difficult for “sunmobiles” to compete with them. But electric cars are not an ideal transport, and their main drawback is charging from the wire. It is almost impossible to go on a long journey by an electric car. The route should pass through the car charging stations, which are suitable for your car model. So, it means, that you couldn’t have a trip through the desert. Nevertheless, a solar car will be charged from the sun even at the moment of driving, and you wouldn’t be attached to the charging stations.

At the same time, it must be understandable to you that, to use solar cars in the cities, where the level of the sunny days is few, and where the weather is mostly and cloudy - will be quite problematic.

Speed and the safety. The speed isn’t really high, there are races of solar cars, and the average actual speed is about 110 km\h. And the theoretical maximum speed of sun mobiles is about 130-170 km\h. That’s why, for thous who like the fast ride, a solar car would be out of needs.

Due to, the low-speed of driving, these cars are safe. Riding on them is easy because the cars have a streamlined shape and, therefore, aerodynamics is better.

The price is the additional point against. Solar cars are not budget. For a simple model you need to spend a lot, and to keep up such car for today, will cost much as well. Perhaps, in the future, when most drivers will switch to electric cars and will prefer cars on a solar battery, the price of such automobiles will decrease. By the way, there are a lot of videos about how someone is trying to collect a solar car themselves, on the Internet. Someone succeed with it, and someone does not, but the point is, that solar cars can also be a budget mode of transport.

In any case, whatever car you have, you need to monitor it. InCarDoc will detect onboard faults and offer to fix them in real-time, so you can be sure that your car is riding well.
