hello guys , i bought an ebay wifi scanner and i put it on my BMW F10 after less than a minute i smell fried electronic smell and i figured out that was the scanner , i opened the scanner plastic and the circuit board was fried near the 16 pin connection , my question is : 1. why it this happen? , 2. can this cause any damage to my car?

Sounds like adapter's malfunction, some internal short circuit. It might be not a good for "outer" car's electric circuit as well
