As we mentioned earlier, the first really used car with a petrol engine was designed by the German inventor Karl Benz, who was officially called "Benz Patent-Motorwagen" in 1885 in Mannheim, although the company was founded in 1883. At the same time, the inventor received a patent for his car, it is interesting to note that the first person who test the car was his wife - Bertha Benz - she made the first long-distance trip from Mannheim to Pforzheim and back, in August 1888. Since 2008, the route between these towns is named in her honor.

Thus, the automotive industry began to develop. More and more engineers appeared on the market, the competition was growing and the cars became more comfortable and faster. During this short period of 17 years, the production of cars managed through drastic changes especially after the of Henry Ford had come.

1909-1910 Bugatti. The Second decade of the XX century began with the appearance of the car Bugatti type 13. But the history of the company had begun in 1908, when Ettore Bugatti, an engineer and racing driver, assembled his first car, which he subsequently repeatedly modified. In 1909, Ettore Bugatti founded his own company, buying the old and abandoned premises of the Dyer in the small French town of Molsem. During the year, the abandoned building turned into a garage shop, and in 1910 Bugatti type 13, became the first car under the same brand. At the 1911 Grand Prix car races, racer Ernest Friedrich took second place behind the wheel of this particular car. After the victory, the company gets a success.

The cars produced by the brand were stood out from other vehicles by power and high price, as well as by its uniqueness. For example, the Bugatti Type 18, 1912, was the supercar, which could reach speeds up to 160 km\h., but there were 7 instances only. Or car models Type 28 and Type 29 were released in just 4 copies in 1919 and had tremendous success. Until now, the cars of this brand are represented by hypercars and supercars, luxury and racing cars.

Car manufacture was frozen during the Second World War. When Ettore Bugatti returned to his activities, the interest of investors and the public to the brand's cars fell. The company had been keeping the power until 1963, finally the manufacture gone to “Hispanu-Suiza”. After that, the company disappeared from the automotive market. Only in 1990, the car model Bugatti EB110 gave a new impetus to the brand, it was revolutionary for its time. Than occasion made the concern "Volkswagen” been interested in that, as the result they bought the Automobiles Ettore Bugatti in 1998.

At the current moment, the company is part of the German concern Volkswagen AG, the President is Wolfgang Durheimer.

The main and the most powerful competitor was Ford, whose cars had a lower and affordable price. While "Chevrolet" reviewed the concept of production, such that the production capacity was aimed at developing a highly reliable and affordable car for the average American family. Then Chevrolet 490 appeared in USA market.

The company has developed steadily and successfully. It is still a division of General Motors.
