I can’t clear the trouble codes with my scanner... it worked on my bmw but will not clearBenz errors... is there a reason

Clearing might depend on error type. Some errors could be cleared only when engine is stopped, but car electronics is powered.
Switch key to ON (or II) position without clicking the Start, dashboard will be illuminated with all indicators. Then connect from the app and try to clear errors.
If you have issues or questions please use Save-Send option at Diagnostics screen to prepare and send us resulting data. In the mail with diagnostics please add issue details.
