Will this app support the usb type of elm327? as I always have had trouble with the wifi/bluetooth types.

Unfortunately - not. Support of the USB connection does not planned.

Bluetooth issues might be obsereved with cheap low reliable adapters. Most of middle- and high- end adapters should not have connection issues.
