Codes description Lost power and EPC light lit up.
penose8080 posted this 03 июля 2025

I had a similar issue with my 2015 Jetta 1.8 TSI. In my case, the EPC light came on because of a faulty throttle body. The car went into limp mode and felt very sluggish. I used the InCarDoc OBD2 app with a Bluetooth scanner to read the fault codes, and it showed a P2135 — throttle position sensor issue. If you’re getting the same symptoms, I’d definitely recommend scanning it yourself before heading to a shop. It’s safe to drive short distances, but not for long, especially if you’re losing power.

I was driving my 2014 Volkswagen Jetta 1.8 TSI automatic, 6-speed earlier today when the EPC light suddenly came on. I was going about 45 mph on a city road, and had just lightly pressed the gas pedal to accelerate when I noticed a loss of power and the EPC warning appeared on the dashboard. The car felt sluggish, almost like it went into limp mode, and the throttle response became very weak. I pulled over and turned the engine off for a few minutes, then restarted it - the light stayed on, and the performance didn’t improve. No other warning lights came on, no Check Engine. Why would the EPC light come on in this situation, and is it safe to keep driving like this?

News and Announcements 5 Signs That Your Car Needs Transmission Service
RYAN Tedder posted this 17 декабря 2024

Your car's transmission plays a key role in shifting gears and ensuring a smooth ride. With proper transmission function, your car can experience good performance, safety issues, and costly repairs down the road. Recognizing early signs that your car needs transmission service is key to avoiding these problems. In this article, we’ll review the top five signs indicating your car might need service and why getting it checked early is crucial.

Is Your Car in Need of Transmission Service? Here Are 5 Signs

Car transmission service is crucial for maintaining smooth shifting and optimal engine performance. Regular transmission checks prevent costly repairs by identifying issues early, such as slipping gears or fluid leaks. Keeping your transmission in top shape ensures a longer vehicle lifespan, better fuel efficiency, and a safer driving experience.

1. Slipping Gears

One of the most common signs that your car needs transmission service is when the gears begin to slip. This means the car shifts between gears without you manually changing them or when the car feels like it’s having trouble staying in gear. Slipping gears can lead to erratic acceleration and even difficulty driving. If this happens, it's important to take your car to a car transmission repair shop as soon as possible.

The issue could be due to low transmission fluid, worn-out clutch components, or problems within the transmission system itself. Having a transmission specialist examine the system can help pinpoint the exact cause and prevent further damage.

2. Strange Noises

Hearing strange noises, like grinding, whining, or clunking sounds, when you shift gears or when your car is in gear is a clear sign of trouble. These sounds can indicate that the gears inside the transmission are grinding due to low or dirty transmission fluid, worn components, or a faulty clutch.

If you hear any unusual noises from the transmission, it’s vital to schedule a visit to an auto repair shop or a transmission repair centre. Strange noises coming from the transmission shouldn't be ignored, as they could lead to serious problems, like transmission failure, which is expensive to fix.

3. Delay in Shifting Gears

Another sign your transmission needs attention is if there's a delay when shifting gears. When you change from Park to Drive, or Reverse to Drive, and there is a noticeable delay or hesitation before the car starts moving, it could indicate an issue with the transmission. This is often caused by low transmission fluid, a failing torque converter, or damaged transmission bands.

This issue should not be ignored, as a delay in shifting gears can affect the performance of your vehicle and lead to transmission damage over time. Contact a car specialist in Perth or an automatic transmission repair professional to diagnose the issue and recommend the best course of action.

4. Warning Lights on the Dashboard

Modern cars are equipped with onboard diagnostic systems that monitor the performance of major components, including the transmission. If your car’s check engine light or transmission warning light comes on, it’s time to get your vehicle checked out.

A warning light related to the transmission indicates that the system has detected an issue, and continuing to drive with a transmission problem could result in more severe damage. A certified transmission repair specialist will run diagnostics to identify the issue and provide the necessary repairs to avoid further complications.

5. Leaking Transmission Fluid

Transmission fluid helps keep the system cool and lubricated. If you notice red or brown fluid leaking from your car, it’s a strong indicator that your transmission is leaking. If the fluid is low, the transmission can overheat and stop working, resulting in costly repairs.

Leaking transmission fluid is often the result of worn seals or gaskets, but it can also be caused by more severe issues. If you notice any fluid under your vehicle, take it to an auto transmission service center or a transmission specialist for an inspection. They will determine the source of the leak and ensure the necessary repairs are made to avoid transmission failure.

Why Is Transmission Service Important?

Getting regular transmission service is essential to keep your transmission running smoothly and to extend its lifespan. Servicing your transmission can help prevent issues like slipping gears, strange noises, and delays in shifting. Additionally, transmission service helps maintain proper fluid levels, replace worn-out components, and identify potential issues before they become major problems.

When you maintain your car’s transmission, you not only improve its performance but also extend its lifespan, saving you money on costly repairs or replacements. Professional mechanics and Auto repair shop services can ensure that your vehicle stays in top shape in Perth, so you can enjoy a smoother and more reliable driving experience.

Conclusion

Transmission problems can be frustrating and costly if not addressed promptly. Recognizing the signs that your car needs transmission service is essential for avoiding major issues. If you notice slipping gears, strange noises, delays in shifting, warning lights, or transmission fluid leaks, it’s important to get your vehicle checked by a transmission repair specialist.

Whether you need a routine automatic transmission repair or a more complex fix, taking your car to a trusted car specialist in Perth or a 4WD transmission specialist can help prevent further damage. Don’t wait until your car’s transmission fails—schedule a service today to keep your vehicle running smoothly for years to come.

If you suspect that your car may need transmission service, don’t hesitate to contact a local transmission specialist. Take action today to ensure your vehicle’s transmission stays in great condition

News and Announcements Everything You Should Know About 4WD Service and Maintenance
RYAN Tedder posted this 16 декабря 2024

If you own a 4WD vehicle, you know how important it is to keep it in good condition for both off-road adventures and everyday driving. Regular 4WD service and maintenance are key to keeping your vehicle running smoothly, safely, and efficiently. In this article, we’ll go over everything you need to know about 4x4 service, from the benefits to the most common tasks involved.

What is 4WD Service?

4WD service includes regular maintenance and repairs needed to keep your four-wheel-drive vehicle in top shape. This includes checking parts like the transmission, suspension, tires, and engine. Whether you’re using your 4WD for off-road trips or daily driving, regular service helps prevent problems before they happen.

Why Regular 4WD Service is Important

  1. Better Performance: Regular 4wd service and repairs ensure your vehicle runs at its best, especially when you’re off-roading or driving in tough conditions.
  2. Avoid Expensive Repairs: Small issues can turn into costly problems if not checked early. Regular maintenance can help you save money in the future.
  3. Longer Vehicle Life: A well-maintained 4WD will last longer, keeping you on the road or trail for many years.
  4. Safety: Regular service helps keep your vehicle safe by checking important systems like brakes, tires, and suspension.

Common 4x4 Service Tasks

  1. Oil and Filter Change: Regular oil changes are important to keep your engine running smoothly. The oil lubricates parts and reduces wear.
  2. Brake Checks: Off-road driving can put extra strain on your brakes. Regular checks ensure your brakes are working properly.
  3. Transmission Service: The transmission is important for the performance of your 4WD. Regular checks prevent it from breaking down.
  4. Suspension and Steering: If you’re driving over rough terrain, your suspension and steering get a workout. Regular checks make sure they’re in good condition.
  5. Tire Checks and Alignment: Tires are crucial for safe driving. Regular checks make sure they’re inflated correctly and in good shape.
  6. Cooling System Check: Off-roading can cause your engine to overheat.Checking your radiator and coolant levels often can prevent problems.
  7. Battery Check: Your 4WD’s battery needs to be checked regularly, especially if you drive off-road often.

When to Service Your 4WD

How often you need service depends on your vehicle and how often you drive it. Here are some general guidelines:

  • Every 6 months or 10,000 km: Oil changes, tire checks, and general maintenance.
  • Every 12 months or 20,000 km: Transmission checks, brake inspections, and suspension checks.
  • Every 30,000 km: Coolant flush, battery checks, and air filter changes.

If you’ve been off-roading or noticed any performance issues, it’s a good idea to schedule a service sooner.

Choosing the Right 4WD Service Centre

When picking a 4WD service center, look for a trusted 4WD mechanic who knows your vehicle. Choose a shop with experienced technicians who specialize in 4WDs. When choosing a service center, consider a few important things:

  • Reputation: Check reviews to make sure the shop is reliable.
  • Expertise: Make sure the shop specializes in 4WD service and repairs.
  • Convenience: Choose a shop close to you, like a nearby mechanic, so it’s easy to schedule service.

How Much Does 4x4 Service Cost?

The cost of a 4x4 service depends on the type of service and the condition of your vehicle. Basic maintenance like oil changes and tire checks are usually affordable. However, bigger repairs, like transmission work, can cost more. Keeping up with regular maintenance can help avoid costly repairs down the line. It's important to choose the best car repair shop for your 4x4 service, as experienced technicians will ensure that the job is done correctly and efficiently, saving you from potential issues in the future.

Conclusion

In conclusion, 4WD service is essential for keeping your vehicle in top condition. Regular maintenance ensures your 4WD runs smoothly, lasts longer, and stays safe for all your adventures. If you haven’t had your 4WD serviced recently, now is the time to schedule an appointment with a trusted 4WD service center or 4WD mechanic. Your vehicle will thank you, and you’ll be ready for any road or trail ahead.
