Codes description Rough idle and power loss - what could be causing this?
bomagah593 разместил это 04 июля 2025

I had the same thing on my A3 - the Check Engine light came on and went off, but the car felt rough at idle and didn't accelerate smoothly. I just used InCarDoc on my phone and it immediately found these two codes - P1497 and P2562. I ended up cleaning the EGR and replacing the boost sensor. The car runs much smoother now. It's worth scanning before going to the shop.

P1497 usually points to a faulty EGR valve or its position sensor, and P2562 is a classic turbo actuator or boost sensor issue. When both show up, it explains the rough idle and delayed throttle response. I’d recommend grabbing an OBD2 scanner and checking with InCarDoc — even pending codes can give you clues, especially if the CEL isn’t on all the time. Might be something simple like a connector or carbon buildup.

Codes description Rough idle and power loss - what could be causing this?

I had similar symptoms on my 2014 Passat. Random check engine light, rough idle, and sluggish response — turned out to be two codes: P1497 - EGR valve sensor issue and P2562 - turbo boost control position sensor. I used InCarDoc with a Bluetooth OBD2 adapter, and both codes popped up right away. Cleaning the EGR valve helped temporarily, but I eventually had to replace it. The boost sensor was just dirty. I’d start with a scan - it’ll save you a ton of guesswork.

I’ve been noticing a few issues with my car lately. It sometimes idles rough when stopped, and acceleration feels a bit sluggish — like the engine’s not responding as quickly as it should. It’s not completely losing power, but it definitely doesn’t feel normal.
Also, the Check Engine Light comes on randomly, then disappears on its own. No clear pattern, and interestingly, there’s no major power loss when it happens — the car still drives, just not very smoothly.
Any thoughts on what could be going on? Maybe something with the turbo or EGR system? I haven’t run a full diagnostic yet, just wondering if anyone’s had similar symptoms.

Codes description Car smells like fuel after driving - normal or not?
diyofa7432 разместил это 04 июля 2025

Sounds like a classic EVAP purge valve problem. The P1434 code is common for this, indicating an electrical fault or short in the purge valve circuit. Sometimes wiring or connectors get corroded or loose.

The rough idle can be caused by the valve sticking open and letting extra air into the intake. Definitely get it checked and replaced if needed. Driving isn’t immediately dangerous but fix it soon.

I had a weird fuel smell on my A3 too, and the idle was kind of shaky. Turned out to be a bad purge valve on mine. It wasn’t super obvious at first, but once I replaced it, the smell and rough idle went away.
Maybe try cleaning the valve or just get it tested at a shop.

Hi, I had the same problem on my 2014 A3 1.8 TSI. This fuel smell after turning off the engine usually indicates a problem with the EVAP system, most likely the N80 purge valve. When this starts to fail, it can leak fuel vapor and cause rough idle. I would recommend scanning the codes with InCarDoc to confirm. It's not a big emergency, but don't ignore it for too long - it can affect emissions and fuel economy.

I drive a 2013 Audi A3 1.4 TFSI and lately I’ve noticed a few strange things. After turning off the engine, there’s sometimes a faint fuel smell near the rear of the car. Also, the engine occasionally idles a bit rough, especially when I come to a stop at traffic lights. No major power loss, but something definitely feels off.
There’s no EPC light, but I did get a Check Engine light once - it went away by itself after a day. I haven’t done any diagnostics yet, just wondering if anyone’s experienced similar symptoms?

Codes description Lost power and EPC light lit up.

Same thing happened on my 2013 Jetta a few weeks ago. EPC light came on after I lightly hit the gas, and suddenly the car lost power. I borrowed a Bluetooth scanner and used the InCarDoc app on my phone to check the code — turned out to be a bad brake light switch. Replaced it for like $20 and the light disappeared. If you’ve got access to InCarDoc, definitely use it - saved me a trip to the dealer.

The EPC warning usually relates to throttle control, accelerator pedal position, or sometimes even the brake light switch. Since you’re seeing reduced power and delayed throttle response, I’d suggest checking for codes with an OBD2 scanner. The InCarDoc app works great with most Bluetooth adapters and gives you real-time data and stored faults. Once you know the exact code, you can narrow it down — it could be anything from a wiring issue to a failing sensor. Until then, avoid highways or steep inclines.
